Graduate Email Lists

There are three graduate student-only email announcement lists.

1) The “Announce” list. All graduate students and visiting students in residence are automatically signed up for this list.

Email comes from polisci_grad_announce@mailman.yale.edu. This is the list used by the department to share important news about upcoming events, program requirements, etc. In the interest of reducing unwanted email, who can post to this list is tightly regulated. If you submit an email notice to this list, the DGS or Program Registrar will review it to decide whether it is appropriate to share with everyone.

Please note: This is not the place to advertise private events or to post weekly notices about upcoming seminar talks. Informal discussions can take place on polisci_grad_discuss@mailman.yale.edu. Other regular seminar series should have their own lists.

2) The “Job Market” list. This list is used to send information about placement opportunities. It is open to current and recently graduated Yale PhD students, but you have to sign up. To do so, go to:

http://mailman.yale.edu/mailman/listinfo/polisci_grad_placement

The DGS approves applications to this list. Please use your Yale email address for signing up.

3) The “Discuss” list. This is an unmonitored discussion list. It is open to current graduate students, but you have to sign up. To do so, go to:

http://mailman.yale.edu/mailman/listinfo/polisci_grad_discuss

This is the appropriate venue for announcing non-academic events. However, please note that the DGS office also receives copies of this correspondence.

The DGS approves applications to this list. Please use your Yale email address for signing up.
