Isabelle Aboaf
Bio
Isabelle is a combined PhD student in Political Science and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She has interests in contemporary gender and body politics with a regional focus on the Francophone world. Her main body of work concerns state regulation of industries that center the body and what this means for public investment in social and cultural norms related to gender, health, and beauty. Her other interests lie in women’s organizational networks in France’s overseas departments and territories, and in the evolution of misogyny in politics.
In addition to her academic work, she works with local civics and humanities education programs in New Haven, including the Citizens Thinkers Writers program for New Haven public high school students and We the People national civics education program. Before coming to Yale, she worked as a federal auditor for the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) in Washington, DC. Isabelle earned her BA in Government from Cornell University and was born and raised in the great state of Colorado.
