Colin Moreshead

I am a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate at Yale University’s Department of Political Science with a focus in comparative politics. I also have affiliation with Waseda University’s Institute of Political Economy and the Yale University Council on East Asian Studies.

I’m interested in how political media shapes public opinion, voter mobilization, and interparty competition, particularly in Japan. My dissertation uses observational text analysis, interviews, and an experiment to demonstrate the incumbency advantage of Japanese media strategies. Other recent work of mine concerns digital fieldwork, soft power, and public diplomacy.
