Department of Political Science ClassroomTechnical Support > RKZ 102, 202, 301

Classrooms located on the first (102), second (202) and third (301) floors are equipped with Zoom stations.  These stations are equipped with an HDMI cable for use with external devices.

If your device does not have an HDMI port, the podiums  require an adapter that connects to HDMI from your device.  The adapters listed below will work with this system.  Click the image to see it full size.

HDMI to Mini Display Port

HDMI to USB-C

HDMI to Display port

HDMI to Apple Lightning

The classroom on the first floor (102) has an adapter cluster, which includes all of the adapters shown above.

  • Start your device and log into it.
  • Choose the adapter that works with your device.
  • If an adapter is needed, attach the HDMI Cable from the podium to your adapter  and then plug the adapter into your device.   If not, attach the HDMI cable to your laptop.
  • If your device  screen turns black and then comes back, it is connecting.  Give it a chance to connect to the main monitor.

Once connected, you would use it as you would any external monitor or projector.  You can now launch Zoom or any other application on your device and proceed.

If your computer does not initially pick up the projector, please try unplugging the adapter or HDMI cable and then reseating it.  This sometimes “prompts” the computer to connect to an external source.

When you enter the classroom, the Zoom Station will normally be up and running.  Click the screen you see when you enter the room.

This is the normal state of the Zoom station when you enter the classroom.

You can use this device to start a Zoom session directly, or you can attach your own device to the system and run any application installed on your device.

If you enter the classroom and the screen is black, it is powered off.

In the center of the bottom of the screen, about an inch in,  is the power button.  Push it to turn it on.  The screen should come up almost immediately.  Click the image to see more.

If you enter the classroom and the screen has a message in the lower right hand corner reading “No signal.  Check the external input or select another input using the INPUT button”, the HDMI cable may be disconnected from the back of the screen.  You can confirm visually.  Click the image to see more.

Re-seat the HDMI cable  in the top HDMI port.  Your screen should come back up immediately.

If the cable is seated properly, or the screen on the podium appears to be locked up and the issue persists, you can call Tom Hallihan (203-906-6629).

If you are unable to reach him,  Yale Classroom Technology and Events Services is the immediate go to.

You can reach them at 203-432-2650 for immediate assistance or you can email them at Classroom.support@yale.edu to schedule a walk through or to have someone on hand to assist with classroom technology.
