Fausto “Nino” Ximenes, 2024 World Fellow and former Country Director of Oxfam International in Timor-Leste:
“The Role of Civil Society in Post-Conflict Reconciliation and Development.”
Before coming to Yale, Nino served as the Country Director of Oxfam International in Timor-Leste where he strived, together with more than twenty civil society organization partners, stakeholders and communities, in tackling challenges of climate justice, gender equality, just economic development and civic participation. Prior to that, Nino served with various civil society & international organizations including the UN. Nino’s academic and career paths are heavily influenced by the tumultuous independence journey of his native Timor-Leste, as well as the post-conflict national-building and development.
