The Yale MacMillan Center presents a luncheon panel: 

“The Battle Over the Israeli Judiciary.” 

Panelists will include

  • Moshe Halbertal, Gruss Professor of Law, New York University School of Law; Professor, Hebrew University of Jerusalem
  • Samuel Moyn, Chancellor Kent Professor of Law and History, Yale University.

In recent months, Israel’s coalition government has considered a number of legal reforms modifying appointments to the Supreme Court and the relationship between the Court and other branches of government. This luncheon panel, moderated by Professor Isabela Mares and co-hosted by Yale’s MacMillan Center and the American Academy of Arts and Science’s New Haven Program Committee, will bring together leading legal scholars to discuss the stakes of these reforms and their implications for the future of Israel’s democracy.
