The Yale English Department Schlesinger Reading Series presents

Phillip Lopate, recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a NYPL Center for Scholars and Writers Fellowship, and two NEA grants.

Phillip Lopate is best known as a master of the essay, though his work spans fiction, nonfiction, film and literary criticism, and poetry. He is the author of many books, including the seminal To Show and To Tell: The Craft of Literary Nonfiction, and the editor of the influential collection The Art of the Personal Essay. Among many other accolades, he has been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship, a NYPL Center for Scholars and Writers Fellowship, and two NEA grants. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
