The Yale Center for Science and Social Science Information Spring 2020 Data and Statistics Workshops presents:

Barbara Esty:  “Collecting and Manipulating Data.

This session will provide approaches to improving the speed from collecting data to working with your data in a research project. We will focus on collecting appropriate variables for matching data from multiple sources and data cleaning to get your dataset ready for analysis. 

Pre-session work: Install R and Open Refine.

Learning outcomes:
• Participants will have an improved understanding of the data collection and manipulation process
• Participant will gain awareness of tools and avenues for help to get your data ready for analysis
• Participants will be able to do simple transformations of data and know where to get help
