Event description:

The Whitney Publishing Project workshop presents Sandra Aya Enimil and Lindsay Barnett, Yale University library experts:

“Who owns your research? Understanding Copyright, authors’ rights, and open access.”

Want to own your research? What did you give up when you signed that publishing agreement? Is there any way around it? What happens with an open access journal? Copyright can be complicated: the Whitney Publishing Project is here to help.

In this lunch workshop, library experts Sandra Aya Enimil and Lindsay Barnett will discuss how to advocate for yourself as an author: the implications of transferring or licensing rights associated with copyright to a publisher and the benefits of using licenses, such as those developed by Creative Commons, to share your work more broadly.
