Panel discussion with the co-editor and contributing authors of a new volume Pakistan’s Political Parties: Surviving between Dictatorship and Democracy, published by Georgetown University Press in 2020, and Folio Books Pakistan in 2021.
The volume examines how the civilian side of the Pakistani regime has survived the transition to democracy, providing critical insight into the evolution of political parties in Pakistan and developing democracies more broadly. This discussion with contributing authors will focus on the prospects for justice, democratic governance and competition in the face of an interventionist military in Pakistan.
