Vera Mironova, International Security Fellow, Belfer Center, Harvard Kennedy School: “Non State Armed Groups’ Human Resources.”
Vera Mironova’s research explores individual level behavior in conflict environments. She is interested in how exposure to violence affects individual attitudes and decision making. Mironova conducted field work in active conflict zones (Yemen, Iraq, Ukraine, and Palestinian territories) and post-conflict regions: Balkans (Bosnia, Kosovo, and Croatia), Africa (DR Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi), Central Asia (Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan), and Caucasus (Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan). From 2016-2017 she was embedded with Iraqi Special Operations Forces during Mosul Operation.
