The Poynter Fellowship in Journalism presents
Graham Bowley, New York Times reporter and Haley Cohen Gilliland, director, Yale Journalism Initiative:
“Provenance and Cultural Heritage in the Media.”
Bowley tackles the complexities of the culture world, from the controversies over concert ticketing to the inner workings of the art market. Sometimes that takes him to the less polished side of the arts, whether it be forged or looted art, tax evasion, sex harassment allegations or criminal complaints. He likes to dig into important cultural organizations and write about what they say about societies, and he’s interested in revealing and understanding how art can be both used and abused as a vehicle of cultural expression and a token of wealth and power.
