Željko Komsić,Chairman of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency and four term Croat member of Bosnia’s Presidency:
“The World from the Periphery.”
Željko Komsić will discuss current issues in Bosnia and its international position. . David Simon, senior lecturer and assistant dean for graduate education, will moderate.
Komsić is serving his fourth term as the Croat member of Bosnia’s Presidency having been elected to the position in 2006, 2010, 2018 and most recently in 2022. He assumed his latest rotating chairmanship of the Presidency in July 2025. He has had a long and distinguished career in Bosnian politics serving as mayor of Novo Sarajevo, the first Bosnian ambassador to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and in the National House of Representatives. He is the founder of the Democratic Front, a multi-ethnic political party advocating for “civic nationalism” to transition Bosnia from ethnic-power sharing to a model based on individual citizenship. Komsić is the recipient of the “Golden Lily,” Bosnia’s highest award for bravery for his military service during the Bosnian war.
