Joshua Shifrinson, Associate Professor of International Relations, University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy:
“Theories of Costly Signaling and the End of the Cold War.”
Shifrinson’s research engages broad issues of great power politics, US foreign policy, and diplomatic history. Recent projects include the evolution of American grand strategy during and after the Cold War and a re-examination of the sources and consequences of NATO enlargement. He is the author of Rising Titans, Falling Giants: How Great Powers Exploit Power Shifts (2018).
