The Hellenic Studies Program presents:
Dr Ada Dialla, Associate Professor and Chair of European History, Department of Theory and History of Art, School of Fine Arts, Athens: “The Greek Revolution of 1821 Online: A Digital Archive and a Research Project.”
Apart from teaching at the undergraduate level, she teaches at the Postgraduate Studies Program ‘Fine Arts’ of the Department of Fine Arts (ASFA) and at the Postgraduate Studies Program of the Department of Theory and History of Arts (ASFA). She also teaches European history at the Greek Open University. She had previously taught 19th century European, Russian and Eastern European history at the universities of Crete and Thessaly. From 2000 until 2009 she
was director of the Historical Archives of the University of Athens. Her main research interests are 19th century Russian and Eastern European history and politics, intellectual history and international history, 19th century European history (with emphasis on transnational history), and more specifically the study of empire, nations and nationalism, Russian-Greek trans-cultural relations, history of humanitarian interventions and humanitarianism, and Russian history of historiography.
She has studied History at the School of History, State University of Moscow (Lemonosov) (B.A. and M.Sc.), at the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Athens and at the Department of Political Science of the University of Athens (doctoral thesis: “Panslavism and the Eastern Question in the Second half of the 19th century: The Russian Dialogue”). She has been a visiting researcher at the Russian Academy of Science (St. Petersburg) and at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris). She was a fellow at the Jordan Center for Advanced Studies in Russia of New York University (New York).
She is a member of the scientific and editorial board of the journal Historein.
