The Council on Middle East Studies Colloquium presents: 

Jeffrey R. Macris, Presidential Visiting Fellow, Department of Political Science, Yale University:  “Educating Future Military Leaders About the Persian Gulf”.

Jeffrey R. Macris is also a visiting professor from the U.S. Naval Academy. Professor Macris is the author of The Politics and Security of the Gulf: Anglo-American Hegemony and the Shaping of a Region (Routledge, 2010) and the lead editor of Imperial Crossroads: The Great Powers and the Persian Gulf (Naval Institute Press, 2012). He has also published articles on the role of the Great Powers in the Gulf region.

He holds a PhD from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, a linguist certificate in Arabic from the U.S. Defense Language Institute, and has lived and operated in the Gulf region for over three years while serving as a U.S. Navy officer.
