Sidi Moumen is a shantytown on the outskirts of Casablanca. After one if its residents has a stint in prison, the young man becomes a violent Islamic fundamentalist and recruits his younger brother and best friend to his cause. The movie, based on Mahi Binebine’s novel “Stars of Sidi Moumen” is not about politics or religion but about how terrorism can take root amidst poverty and hopelessness.
