The Council on Latin American and Iberian Studies presents: 

Catherine Murphy, Independent documentary film director and producer:  “A talk with Catherine Murphy, Founding Director of the Literacy Project and Senior Advisor for the Cuba Platform.”

Catherine Murphy, works at the intersection of documentary film, social justice, and education in the U.S., Caribbean, and Latin America. She is the Founder & Director of The Literacy project (http://theliteracyproject.org), a documentary oral history project that collects personal testimonies about literacy using documentary storytelling to connect with and strengthen present-day movements for literacy and education justice. She is also the Senior Advisor for The Cuba Platform (https://cubaplatform.org), an initiative that fosters collaboration between Cuba and Atlantic Fellows through convening and audiovisual work.
