Join us for a conversation with Erik Clemons, founding CEO and President of the Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology (or ConnCAT). Based in New Haven, ConnCAT hosts after-school job, arts, and culinary programming to advance the careers of unemployed or under-employed adults and at-risk youth. Its culinary graduates and current students run Orchid Cafe, a catering company and dining venue, and Clemons will discuss the way ConnCAT’s culinary education programming can lead to meaningful employment and equity in the New Haven community.
Erik Clemons comes from the world of non-profit management. Prior to founding ConnCAT, he was the executive director of the Leadership, Education, and Athletics partnership (LEAP), which provides enrichment programs to New Haven youth.
Chewing the Fat is the Yale Sustainable Food Program’s long-standing speaker series. All events are free and open to the public. This event is hosted in collaboration with Pierson College and Yale Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration.
