The Political Science Department has a portable screen that can be used directly with Zoom.

This device can be reserved for any event by sending an email to thomas.hallihan@yale.edu with date, time and room number.

The device is only available for weekend use by faculty.
 

The control panel for the device should look familiar, with two differences…

  • - No Schedule Option. 
  • - Share Content.  Using Zoom on a laptop would allow you to share screen.

If you have a meeting scheduled, start the session on a laptop.  On the Zoom Cart, hit Join and add in the Meeting ID (and password) if there is one.

You can run a session directly from this device using New Meeting.
 

The Control Screen works a little differently than the usual Zoom Client .  There are some similarities…

  • Click the microphone to mute the Zoom Device.
  • Click the Camera to stop video feed from the Zoom Device

…and there are some differences.

 

Security

  • Lock Meeting - Locks the meeting, keeping new participants from joining the meeting.
  • Enable Waiting Room - Enables Waiting Room for incoming new participants or to move current participants into the Waiting Room.
  • Hide Profile Pictures - Hide all profile pictures, including the host
  • Share Screen - Allows participants to share their screens.
  • Chat with -  Allows participants to use the chat function - slect all or specific people
  • Rename themselves - Allows participants to rename themselves from the Participants panel.
  • Unmute Themselves - Allows participants to unmute themselves without the host’s permission.
 

View

  • Speaker - Speaker view will switch the large video window between who is speaking with 3 or more participants
  • Thumbnail - thumbnail window allows you to minimize the main Zoom window, but keep the video on top of other applications you have open
  • Gallery - see thumbnail displays of participants, in a grid pattern
 

Camera Control - generally you are going to only use the Manual Settings here.

  • The arrow keys control up and down and side to side. 
  • Zoom in with the + magnifying glass, out with the - magnifying glass
  • Mirror effect flips the image horizontally.
 

Participants

The Zoom device is identified as Rosenkranz Zoom Cart.

  • Invite - create and send an invite to any one - see below for Invite information
  • Mute All - mutes all participants.
  • Unmute All - unmutes all participants
