Rosenrkanz Hall, Classroom 005 is a bit different than the other classrooms.

There are several way to connect to the monitor in the front of the classroom. 

Note: To use the cameras installed in the classroom, you would have to use the on board PC for Zoom for recordings.


Local PC

Touch the control panel screen to start it.  You will see the following…

If you wish to use the in-room cameras for Zoom or other software, you must use the local PC.

To verify/alter the camera angle you want, click on the gear. 

You have two options - from the front of the classroom showing the students/attendees or from the back of the classroom showing the speaker. - you will see the angle change as you click on the relevant button.  Once you have the camera angle you want, click on Local PC.

When Local PC is clicked, the monitor on the podium and the main classroom screen will show the standard Windows 10 Desktop. 

Hit Control-Alt-Del on the keyboard to log in.

Log in using your Yale credentials.

Zoom – to launch Zoom on your laptop and use it with the classroom monitor, you should do the following…

  • Launch Zoom
  • Click Sign In
  • Click SSO – Do Not type in your email address here.
  • If it does not autofill, type Yale in the .zoom.us space.  Once yale is in there, you should be sent to a CAS login
  • Log in using your Yale credentials.
  • Zoom should open.  Click New Meeting.  Click Use Computer Audio.
  • Test your microphone and speakers now.

Wirelessly connecting to the Classroom Screen.

PC Users.

Note: This method will use your laptop’s camera or a USB camera attached to your Laptop.  It does not pickup the room’s dedicated cameras, front or back.

Connecting to the Classroom monitor wirelessly requires the installation of an app called vSolution Cast.                                                                                      

The app will automatically start.  If you plan to run it again, create a shortcut to it on your desktop

  • Click your Start button and start typing vSolution
  • You will see the following…

               

  • Click on Open File Location
  • Locate the icon and right click and drag it to your desktop.
  • Double click to start the app. It autofills an IP address.  Look at the screen in the classroom – an IP address will be listed at the top of the screen.  Click in the IP space (as shown below) and type in the Identifying IP address and click Search
  • For classroom 005 in Rosenkranz Hall, the name you are looking for is
    • YALE-RKZ-05-CYNAP
  • Click the start button

  • You will be asked for a PIN – look back at the classroom monitor – the PIN should be listed across the top.  Enter it.

The computer should connect to the screen (screencasting) and you will be presented with two choices - Screen 1 or extended. 

If you choose Screen 1, you should now be seeing your laptop’s screen items on the monitor in the room.  You can run any application you have on your laptop on the classroom monitor.

If you choose Extended it will act as if it is another monitor attached to your laptop.

To end your screencasting, look for the small tab in the center top of your screen with two lines on it and click that – it will drop down the app’s interface.  Click on the X to end the screencast.
