“The Things You Kill” (2025).
Questioning the suspicious death of his mother, a Turkish-born Comparative Literature professor in the United States and his enigmatic gardener descend into a hypnotic maze of mirrors and memories. As family secrets surface and painful truths emerge, they spiral toward a devastating reckoning with the darkness lurking within us all. Situating its protagonists across different cultural and linguistic contexts, the psychological thriller by an Iranian writer-director Alireza Khatami explores the way a person can have multiple identities coexisting and struggling within themselves.
