YALE CENTER FOR CIVIC THOUGHT - SPECIAL EVENT

Please join us for a special Constitution Day event with Jeffrey Tulis, author of The Rhetorical Presidency, and Mariah Zeisberg, author of War Powers: The Politics of Constitutional Authority, as they engage in a spirited discussion of the place of the Constitution in American democracy today.

Why do we have a constitution? Is it more than a legal framework we inherit, left to judges to enforce? What if we approached the Constitution as the framers did, starting with its purposes, the fundamental problems it was meant to address, and the developments it aimed to encourage in American society? What would it mean for ordinary citizens and politicians alike to “think constitutionally” today?

This conversation, on the anniversary of the Constitution’s signing in 1787, will include dinner and a special format:

- 4:30-6pm Moderated panel discussion and Q&A with Professors Tulis and Zeisberg
- 6-7pm: Catered dinner & small group conversations
- 7-8pm: Reconvening for open discussion in the larger group

Space is limited. Please register by September 12 at this link.

Sponsored by the Yale Center for Civic Thought and the Institution for Social and Policy Studies.
