Fergal Mythen served as Director-General of the Ireland, UK and Americas Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs from 2017 to 2022 where he led the departmental team working on the Northern Ireland peace process, Irish-British relations (including the impact of Brexit), and Irish-U.S. and Irish-Canadian bilateral relations, as well as relations with the Latin America-Caribbean region.
