Bio:

My research is focused on political representation and comparative political institutions. I examine the effect of political party institutions and their strategic electoral decisions on the quality of representation. I am particularly interested in examining the influence of party organization on gender equality. I also have a specialized interest in political parties and democratic representation in Eastern Europe and the European Union. While completing my Ph.D., I did fieldwork as a Fulbright Scholar in Zagreb, Croatia and as a European Union Studies Association Haas Fund Fellow in Brussels, Belgium.  My teaching interests revolve around the study of democratic institutions, political methodology, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, and the institutional structure, functioning, and evolution of the European Union. Before coming to Yale, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Houston with the Political Party Database Project and a visiting scholar at Texas A&M University.
