Event description: 

“Understanding Trade Preferences: Economic Ignorance and Out-Group Anxiety” will be presented by Shikhar Singh and James Sundquist. Shikhar Singh is a third year PhD student at the Yale Department of Political Science. He researches parties, political behaviour, and electoral competition; with interests in comparative and American politics, political economy, and quantitative methods. James Sundquist is a second-year PhD student studying International Political Economy. His research centers on competition and cooperation in and among international financial institutions. He is also interested in explaining countries’ choice of development strategies and Chinese perspectives on development assistance.

“International Pressure and Public Attitude Towards International Institutions in China” will be presented by Jiahua Yue. Jiahua Yue is a PhD student in the Yale Department of Political Science. His academic focuses are international political economy and political methodology, especially in the dynamics of economic interdependence and its implication on domestic politics. He is also interested in big data analysis and its applications in the realm of political science.
