The Sterling Memorial Library presents a LuxTalk:

Kenneth Minkema:  “The Jonathan Edwards Center at Yale: Online Archives and Initiatives”.

Founded as a traditional historical papers series in the 1950s, the Works of Jonathan Edwards transformed in 2003 into an online, open-access archive and resource center with initiatives that encourage engagement with primary sources through research, pedagogy, and publication. This presentation will review the storied history of the edition, its transition into a digital humanities project, and its ongoing challenges and solutions to meet the highest scholarly standards while serving the needs of and educating its varied audience.

Dr. Kenneth P. Minkema is the Executive Editor of The Works of Jonathan Edwards and of the Jonathan Edwards Center & Online Archive at Yale University, with appointments as Research Faculty at Yale Divinity School and as Research Associate at the University of the Free State, South Africa. He offers seminars in early American and early modern religious history, as well as reading courses in all periods of American religious history. From 2004 through 2009, he served as the Executive Secretary of the American Society of Church History.

Please join us next Tuesday, April 15th, at the International Room for lunch and some conversation on transformations in scholarly editing and communication.
